Windows were illegal in Oregon Bars and Taverns from my understanding. None had them that I recall when I moved to Oregon in the seventies. This leant to the perception that the establishments were seedy places of ill repute. I figured the authorities at the time didn't want passersby to see the low life (haha) patrons imbibing. Then came Bridgeport, Widmer Brothers, Mcmenamin's and all the others. And lo, locally brewed fresh beer appeared. Let there be light!
